The cast of As You Like It and Director Brigid Larmour achieved a remarkable success in their new production of the romantic comedy at the Watford Palace theatre.
I had seen this play a few years ago in an open air theatre and came away confused by the plot, the mistaken identity of the female lead masquerading as a man and the roles of the other cast members. In welcome contrast, the Palace players pulled out all the stops to explain the elaborate plot and emphasis the language, humour and dramatic artistry of Shakespeare. They showed that his observations on love, forgiveness and the human condition are still as valid today as they were in 1600. For more on this review go here

Old Times by Harold Pinter. Theatre Royal, Windsor. April 9 to 14. A play like this gives enjoyment afterwards – exchanging theories, aiming to get to the centre of what the great man was getting at. And, yes, Pinter was right there in the audience on April 10 so we all shared an evening with a much-honoured Nobel laureate!
